Comfort and Pain

I'm just sitting here, this place is a mess
you're not staying here, you're not even there
the city's asleep, or trying to wake

and I never knew, just how hard it would get
I never believed, this life could just end
instead of relief, this heart lies in pain

this is the comfort that comes from the pain
this is the meaning, so harsh and so frail

I feel like I'm losing, I fear I'll forget
your body is missing, your soul and your face
you said you would fix me, please try once again

this is the comfort that comes from this pain
this pain is the meaning of fear and regret

this is the comfort that comes from the pain
a pain that's eternal and never forgets

this is
my pain
this is my comfort
but also my fate

odd timing

like the setting of the sun in winter
like the coming of a storm in june

like the feeling that will never wither
much like falling into secret pain

finding corners, in a sea of servants
moving blindly through a maze you know
touching slowly, inadvertently
fearing a witness in the eyes of all

this came along
unexpected
this came along
by itself

it came unlooked for
it came unbidden
to drive my senses
to drive my self

I can't deny this
neither can you
our thoughts betray us
much more than you

this broken moment
a gap in space
a section of darkness
unforgiving fate

how odd the timing
how cool your face
in spite of madness
will we lose ourselves?
